Conversation guide
Yes, we’re going to talk about poo. Craig and I have the gut-health conversation, including the microbiome, screening and yes, poo transplants. There’s plenty to be curious about, and a good reason to take personal questions to someone qualified.
- Ask what evidence supports a probiotic for your problem.
- Review an unhelpful exclusion diet with a dietitian; keep medical exclusions.
- Ask your GP about difficulty emptying your bowel.
Curiosity first, then the right person for personal questions.
What have I been too embarrassed to ask about my gut health?
Try this week: Write that question down and take it to your GP, including any screening you’re due for.
This is a reflection exercise, not medical advice. Take personal health questions to a qualified health professional.
These ideas come from our conversation. The activities are a few suggestions to try, when you’re ready. This is general information. For current context, see health.gov.au on national bowel screening and tga.gov.au on faecal microbiota transplant products. Emerging applications are not established general wellness treatments.

Conversation excerpt · 3:37-4:34
[3:37] >> So, we always thought that kind of [3:38] everything in your gut was completely [3:40] separate to the inside of your body, [3:42] right? We we thought it was two separate [3:44] things. You had this wall. You had this [3:45] wall in between and what happened on the [3:47] inside was different to the rest of your [3:49] body. But there's more and more research [3:51] in in all f in all fields both and in [3:54] the wellness industry been going on this [3:56] for a long time that it's all connected [3:58] >> that your gut is this window to the [4:01] outside world right so there's this I [4:03] kind of always bring this up where you [4:05] we always thought like your eyes are the [4:06] windows for the soul but really let's [4:08] call it what it is your soul is a window [4:10] to this right and that everything [4:13] outside will impact your gut microbiome [4:16] which will therefore have some impact on [4:17] the rest of your body [4:19] >> okay And so we can do all we can to try [4:22] and treat chronic illness, [4:23] >> but we say, well, what's driving that [4:25] chronic illness in the first place? Why [4:27] is there increasing rates in every [4:29] illness under the sun? [4:30] >> Yeah. [4:30] >> Um, and it's you it's generally related [4:32] to what we eat, the environment we live [4:34] in, and everything else around it.
