Conversation guide

That thing we keep saying we’ll do “one day”… Nigel and I talk about the things we keep putting off, what work takes up and what else we want life to include. It isn’t about pretending we can ignore the practical bits. It’s about asking what deserves a little more room.

Make room for what matters beyond work.

What do I keep saying I’ll do ‘one day’?

Conversation excerpt · 6:31-7:07

[6:31] which I did at perfect timing, [6:36] because I'm on a plane coming back from [6:37] New York, having been told, you know, my [6:39] life is all over, having relocated my [6:41] family around the world to Australia. [6:43] Um, and I read this brilliant quote. [6:45] Pause for a moment, you wretched [6:46] weaklings, and take stock of your mis [6:48] miserable existence. All right. And you [6:50] go, well, yes, if I'm not going to do it [6:53] now. [6:54] Yeah. Yeah. [6:55] And I see this all the time with people. [6:57] Oh, I'm going to lose the weight. I'm [6:58] going to give that drink. I'm whatever. [6:59] And and you meet them five years or my [7:01] boyfriend or my girlfriend. Then you [7:02] meet them again and you're still having [7:03] the same conversation, which is fine. [7:04] Change is difficult. And you go, [7:07] right, well, this is my moment.
